Role Overview

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of industrial machinery used to produce construction materials and components. You do not need to be an engineer or a mechanic; we are looking for individuals who are attentive, responsible, and eager to learn. You will work within a supportive team, overseeing the production process from raw material to finished product.

Detailed Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation and Monitoring

Your primary task involves the daily handling of semi-automated or automated equipment.

  • Start-up and Shut-down: Performing pre-shift checks and starting up machinery according to safety protocols.
  • Process Control: Monitoring machine gauges, screens, and output to ensure the machine is running within specified parameters.
  • Feeding Materials: Loading raw materials (such as concrete mixes, steel reinforcements, or timber) into the machine feed.
  • Adjustments: Making minor adjustments to machine settings (speed, pressure, temperature) to maintain product consistency.

2. Quality Assurance

Quality is the hallmark of Bouygues Construction. You act as the first line of defense against defects.

  • Visual Inspection: Regularly checking finished items for cracks, deformities, or size discrepancies.
  • Measurement: Using calipers, tape measures, or templates to verify that components meet precise architectural specifications.
  • Documentation: Recording production numbers and logging any waste or defective products in the daily report system.

3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Keeping the equipment in top condition is vital for safety and productivity.

  • Routine Care: Cleaning the machine and workspace at the end of each shift to prevent material buildup.
  • Basic Maintenance: Performing simple tasks like lubrication or filter changes as directed by the maintenance team.
  • Fault Reporting: Identifying unusual sounds, vibrations, or errors and immediately reporting them to the shift supervisor or technical team.

4. Safety and Compliance

Safety is our number one core value. "Zero Accidents" is our goal every day.

  • PPE Adherence: Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (helmet, gloves, safety shoes, ear protection) at all times.
  • Protocol Following: Strictly adhering to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance or jams.
  • Hazard Awareness: Being vigilant about potential hazards in the factory floor and helping colleagues stay safe.

5. Team Collaboration

Manufacturing is a team sport. You will work closely with others to achieve targets.

  • Communication: effectively communicating with forklift drivers, logistics staff, and other operators to coordinate material flow.
  • Shift Handover: Providing clear updates to the incoming shift regarding machine status and production progress.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participating in team meetings to suggest ideas for making the work easier, safer, or faster.
